The Prolaz Proversa Velachannel is 2.2 metres at the shallowest point with an east going current. \u00a0The Thompsons pilot book says never to be attempted in a bora which blows strongly here or a sirocco, which creates big seas.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1265\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1265\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/merrington.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_1374-640x427.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1265\" alt=\"Passage between Kornat Island and Dugi Otok\" src=\"http:\/\/merrington.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_1374-640x427.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/merrington.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_1374-640x427.jpg 640w, https:\/\/merrington.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_1374-640x427-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/merrington.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/IMG_1374-640x427-449x300.jpg 449w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1265\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Passage between Kornat Island and Dugi Otok<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We had a swim at a little island before lunch and then sailed into Sali. \u00a0Lesley, James and I went for a swim again later in the afternoon, but there were a surfeit of black sea urchins (read stingy urchins), so I held back. \u00a0James went back to Mercier. \u00a0Lesley and I continued around a wonderul seaside path until we found a rocky beach with a handhold and no sea urchins. \u00a0We were swimming and talking and the lady next to us asked where we were from. \u00a0Her name is Marijan (spelling?), she was born in Sali but emigrated to the US with her parents in the late 60&#8217;s. Her parents have moved back to Sali.
